INTRODUCTION: Among children who suffer from acute recurrent pancreatitis (ARP) or chronic pancreatitis (CP), acute pancreatitis (AP) episodes are painful, often require hospitalization, and contribute to disease complications and progression. Despite this recognition, there are currently no interventions to prevent AP episodes. In this retrospective cohort study, we assessed the impact of pancreatic enzyme therapy (PERT) use on clinical outcomes among children with pancreatic-sufficient ARP or CP. METHODS: Children with pancreatic-sufficient ARP or CP in the INSPPIRE-2 cohort were included. Clinical outcomes were compared for those receiving vs not receiving PERT, as well as frequency of AP before and after PERT. Logistic regression was used to study the association between development of AP episodes after starting PERT and response predictors. RESULTS: Among 356 pancreatic-sufficient participants, 270 (76%) had ARP, and 60 (17%) received PERT. Among those on PERT, 42% did not have a subsequent AP episode, during a mean 2.1 years of follow-up. Children with a SPINK1 mutation ( P = 0.005) and those with ARP (compared with CP, P = 0.008) were less likely to have an AP episode after starting PERT. After initiation of PERT, the mean AP annual incidence rate decreased from 3.14 down to 0.71 ( P < 0.001). DISCUSSION: In a retrospective analysis, use of PERT was associated with a reduction in the incidence rate of AP among children with pancreatic-sufficient ARP or CP. These results support the need for a clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of PERT to improve clinical outcomes among children with ARP or CP.

BACKGROUND: Nutritional status is paramount in Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and is directly correlated with morbidity and mortality. The first ESPEN-ESPGHAN-ECFS guidelines on nutrition care for infants, children, and adults with CF were published in 2016. An update to these guidelines is presented. METHODS: The study was developed by an international multidisciplinary working group in accordance with officially accepted standards. Literature since 2016 was reviewed, PICO questions were discussed and the GRADE system was utilized. Statements were discussed and submitted for on-line voting by the Working Group and by all ESPEN members. RESULTS: The Working Group updated the nutritional guidelines including assessment and management at all ages. Supplementation of vitamins and pancreatic enzymes remains largely the same. There are expanded chapters on pregnancy, CF-related liver disease, and CF-related diabetes, bone disease, nutritional and mineral supplements, and probiotics. There are new chapters on nutrition with highly effective modulator therapies and nutrition after organ transplantation.

This is the third in a series of four papers updating the European Cystic Fibrosis Society (ECFS) standards for the care of people with CF. This paper focuses on recognising and addressing CF health issues. The guidance was produced with wide stakeholder engagement, including people from the CF community, using an evidence-based framework. Authors contributed sections, and summary statements which were reviewed by a Delphi consultation. Monitoring and treating airway infection, inflammation and pulmonary exacerbations remains important, despite the widespread availability of CFTR modulators and their accompanying health improvements. Extrapulmonary CF-specific health issues persist, such as diabetes, liver disease, bone disease, stones and other renal issues, and intestinal obstruction. These health issues require multidisciplinary care with input from the relevant specialists. Cancer is more common in people with CF compared to the general population, and requires regular screening. The CF life journey requires mental and emotional adaptation to psychosocial and physical challenges, with support from the CF team and the CF psychologist. This is particularly important when life gets challenging, with disease progression requiring increased treatments, breathing support and potentially transplantation. Planning for end of life remains a necessary aspect of care and should be discussed openly, honestly, with sensitivity and compassion for the person with CF and their family. CF teams should proactively recognise and address CF-specific health issues, and support mental and emotional wellbeing while accompanying people with CF and their families on their life journey.

PURPOSE: To examine whether patients with non-infectious uveitis (NIU) are at increased risk for celiac disease (CeD). METHODS: Celiac antibody testing was completed in 112 patients. The control group included patients who had undergone upper endoscopy for suspicion of CeD. RESULTS: 2/112 (1.79%) of patients with NIU had positive anti-tTG serology and CeD was confirmed in both patients. When compared to the expected risk of CeD in the general Israeli population of 0.31%, this corresponded to an odds ratio of 5.77 (95% CI 1.4118 to 23.4737, P = 0.049). Three additional patients had positive serology for CeD but the diagnosis was not confirmed. CONCLUSIONS: An increased risk of CeD was detected in patients with NIU. We therefore recommend screening for CeD in NIU patients. Larger prospective studies are required to further validate these results.

OBJECTIVES: Drug-associated acute pancreatitis (DAP) studies typically focus on single acute pancreatitis (AP) cases. We aimed to analyze the (1) characteristics, (2) co-risk factors, and (3) reliability of the Naranjo scoring system for DAP using INSPPIRE-2 (the INternational Study group of Pediatric Pancreatitis: In search for a cuRE-2) cohort study of acute recurrent pancreatitis (ARP) and chronic pancreatitis (CP) in children. METHODS: Data were obtained from ARP group with ≥1 episode of DAP and CP group with medication exposure ± DAP. Physicians could report multiple risk factors. Pancreatitis associated with Medication (Med) (ARP+CP) was compared to Non-Medication cases, and ARP-Med vs CP-Med groups. Naranjo score was calculated for each DAP episode. RESULTS: Of 726 children, 392 had ARP and 334 had CP; 51 children (39 ARP and 12 CP) had ≥1 AP associated with a medication; 61% had ≥1 AP without concurrent medication exposure. The Med group had other risk factors present (where tested): 10 of 35 (28.6%) genetic, 1 of 48 (2.1%) autoimmune pancreatitis, 13 of 51 (25.5%) immune-mediated conditions, 11 of 50 (22.0%) obstructive/anatomic, and 28 of 51 (54.9%) systemic risk factors. In Med group, 24 of 51 (47%) had involvement of >1 medication, simultaneously or over different AP episodes. There were 20 ARP and 4 CP cases in "probable" category and 19 ARP and 7 CP in "possible" category by Naranjo scores. CONCLUSIONS: Medications were involved in 51 of 726 (7%) of ARP or CP patients in INSPPIRE-2 cohort; other pancreatitis risk factors were present in most, suggesting a potential additive role of different risks. The Naranjo scoring system failed to identify any cases as "definitive," raising questions about its reliability for DAP.

BACKGROUND: Elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor (ELX/TEZ/IVA) significantly improves health outcomes in people with cystic fibrosis (pwCF) carrying one or two F508del mutations. According to in vitro assays performed in FRT cells, 178 additional mutations respond to ELX/TEZ/IVA. The N1303K mutation is not included in this list of mutations. Recent in vitro data suggested that ELX/TEZ/IVA increases N1303K-CFTR activity. Based on the in vitro response, eight patients commenced treatment with ELX/TEZ/IVA. METHODS: Two homozygotes; and six compound heterozygotes N1303K/nonsense or frameshift mutation pwCF were treated off label with ELX/TEZ/IVA. Clinical data before and 8 weeks after starting treatment were prospectively collected. The response to ELX/TEZ/IVA was assessed in intestinal organoids derived from 5 study patients and an additional patient carrying N1303K that is not receiving treatment. RESULTS: Compared to the values before commencing treatment, mean forced expiratory volume in 1 second increased by 18.4 percentage points and 26.5% relative to baseline, mean BMI increased by 0.79 Kg/m2, and mean lung clearance index decreased by 3.6 points and 22.2%. There was no significant change in sweat chloride. Nasal potential difference normalized in four patients and remained abnormal in three. Results in 3D intestinal organoids and 2D nasal epithelial cultures showed a response in CFTR channel activity. CONCLUSIONS: This report supports the previously reported in vitro data, performed in human nasal and bronchial epithelial cells and intestinal organoids, that pwCF who carry the N1303K mutation have a significant clinical benefit by ELX/TEZ/IVA treatment.

Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator modulator therapy is associated with substantial clinical benefit and improved quality of life in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF). While their effect on lung function has been clearly reported, we are still in the process of unraveling the full impact they have on the pancreas. We present two cases of pancreatic-insufficient CF patients who presented with acute pancreatitis shortly after commencing elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor modulator therapy. Both patients were treated with ivacaftor for 5 years prior to elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor initiation, but had no previous episodes of acute pancreatitis. We suggest that highly effective modulator combination therapy may restore additional pancreatic acinar activity, resulting in the development of acute pancreatitis in the interim until ductal flow is improved. This report adds to the growing evidence for possible restoration of pancreatic function in patients receiving modulator therapy, and highlights that treatment with elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor may be associated with acute pancreatitis until ductal flow is restored, even in pancreatic-insufficient CF patients.

Objective and aim: Infantile-onset inflammatory bowel disease (IO-IBD), defined as IBD diagnosed at age 2 years or younger, tends to be more severe and refractory to conventional treatment than IBD diagnosed at a later age. However, data about IO-IBD and its long-term follow up are limited. We thus aimed to evaluate the presentation and long-term outcomes of patients with IO-IBD in a retrospective multicenter study. Methods: Medical records of patients diagnosed with IO-IBD in eight medical centers during 2000-2017 with at least 1-year follow up were reviewed. Demographics and disease characteristics at diagnosis including age of onset, disease phenotype and location, surgeries, medical therapy, and comorbid conditions were recorded. Results: Twenty-three patients with IO-IBD (16 males, 70%) were identified and followed for a median (range) of 51.2 (26.0-110.3) months. The mean ages at presentation and at the last follow up were 14 ± 9.8 and 101 ± 77 months, respectively. Six (26%) patients needed ileostomy already at the time of diagnosis and 20 (87%) were treated with corticosteroids. During long-term follow up, remission was achieved in 16 (73%) patients; of whom, 3 (14%) were without medications and 7 (32%) were in remission with the use of 5-aminosalicylic acid only. One patient needed hemicolectomy and one developed a severe EBV related infection. Conclusion: The majority of patients with IO-IBD achieved long-term remission, despite a severe disease presentation at diagnosis. Surgery rate however is high, mainly during the first months from diagnosis.

STUDY OBJECTIVES: Celiac disease (CD), an immune-mediated enteropathy, has a clinical spectrum that is remarkably wide and includes neuropsychiatric manifestations. While studies of adults have shown sleep disturbances, there is limited data in children. Our objectives were to assess the association between sleep disturbances and CD in children, and the effect of a gluten-free diet. METHODS: Parents of children 3-12 years old referred for endoscopy completed the Sleep Disturbance Scale for Children and modified Epworth Sleepiness Scale. Children with CD were compared with healthy controls and children with abdominal pain but no definitive findings on investigation. Parents of children with CD and abdominal pain were contacted after 6 months for follow-up. RESULTS: We enrolled 101 patients, mean age 6.5 (2.8), 51% female, 38 with CD, 18 abdominal pain, and 45 healthy. Sleep Disturbance Scale for Children scores were 37.4 (8.7), 41.3 (11.3), and 45.4 (13.7) in healthy controls, CD, and abdominal pain, respectively (P = .024). There was a significant difference in the disorders of arousal domain (P = .044). There were no significant differences on the modified Epworth Sleepiness Scale. A trend toward improvement in Sleep Disturbance Scale for Children scores was seen in children with CD presenting with abdominal pain after 6 months on a gluten-free diet (P = .07). CONCLUSIONS: In this first prospective study of sleep disturbances in children with CD, we show high rates of disturbed sleep compared with healthy children. Sleep disturbances did not improve on a gluten-free diet and may be driven by abdominal pain. CITATION: Reiter J, Abuelhija H, Slae M, et al. Background and study aims The ability to perform endoscopy procedures safely and effectively is a key aspect of quality clinical care in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (PGHN). The aim of this survey, which was part of a global survey on PGHN training in Europe, was to assess endoscopy training opportunities provided across Europe. Methods Responses to standardized questions related to endoscopy training were collected from training centers across Europe through the presidents/representatives of the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition National Societies from June 2016 to December 2019. Results A total of 100 training centers from 19 countries participated in the survey. In 57 centers, the endoscopy suit was attached to the PGHN center, while in 23, pediatric endoscopies were performed in adult endoscopy facilities. Ninety percent of centers reported the availability of specialized endoscopy nurses and 96 % of pediatric anesthetists. Pediatric endoscopies were performed by PGHN specialists in 55 centers, while 31 centers reported the involvement of an adult endoscopist and 14 of a pediatric surgeon. Dividing the number of procedures performed at the training center by the number of trainees, ≤ 20 upper, lower, or therapeutic endoscopies per trainee per year were reported by 0 %, 23 %, and 56 % of centers, respectively, whereas ≤ 5 wireless capsule endoscopies per trainee per year by 75 %. Only one country (United Kingdom) required separate certification of competency in endoscopy. Conclusions Differences and deficiencies in infrastructure, staffing, and procedural volume, as well as in endoscopy competency assessment and certification, were identified among European PGHN training centers limiting training opportunities in pediatric endoscopy.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: The introduction of highly effective cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator modulators has resulted in a paradigm shift towards treating underlying cause of cystic fibrosis (CF) rather than the ensuing complications. In this review, we will describe the impact of these small molecules on growth, nutrition, and metabolic status in people with CF (pwCF). RECENT FINDING: Results of clinical trials and real world data demonstrate that these small molecules are having a significant impact of on augmenting body weight, improving nutritional status and reducing gastrointestinal symptom burden. Early treatment can also positively impact on pancreatic endocrine and exocrine function. SUMMARY: Nutritional and metabolic management of pwCF needs to change in order to maximize long term health and avoid future complications relating to obesity and increased cardiovascular risk. Longitudinal registry studies will be key to improve our understanding of the longer-term outcome of these new therapies.

OBJECTIVES: The objective of this study is to investigate risk factors and disease burden in pediatric acute recurrent pancreatitis (ARP) and chronic pancreatitis (CP). METHODS: Data were obtained from INternational Study group of Pediatric Pancreatitis: In search for a cuRE-2 (INSPPIRE-2), the largest multi-center prospective cohort study in pediatric patients with ARP or CP. RESULTS: Of 689 children, 365 had ARP (53%), 324 had CP (47%). CP was more commonly associated with female sex, younger age at first acute pancreatitis (AP) attack, Asian race, family history of CP, lower BMI%, genetic and obstructive factors, PRSS1 mutations and pancreas divisum. CFTR mutations, toxic-metabolic factors, medication use, hypertriglyceridemia, Crohn disease were more common in children with ARP. Constant or frequent abdominal pain, emergency room (ER) visits, hospitalizations, medical, endoscopic or surgical therapies were significantly more common in CP, episodic pain in ARP. A total of 33.1% of children with CP had exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), 8.7% had diabetes mellitus. Compared to boys, girls were more likely to report pain impacting socialization and school, medical therapies, cholecystectomy, but no increased opioid use. There was no difference in race, ethnicity, age at first AP episode, age at CP diagnosis, duration of disease, risk factors, prevalence of EPI or diabetes between boys and girls. Multivariate analysis revealed that family history of CP, constant pain, obstructive risk factors were predictors of CP. CONCLUSIONS: Children with family history of CP, constant pain, or obstructive risk factors should raise suspicion for CP.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Cystic fibrosis (CF)-related diabetes (CFRD) affects 50% of CF adults. Gut microbial imbalance (dysbiosis) aggravates their inflammatory response and contributes to insulin resistance (IR). We hypothesized that probiotics may improve glucose tolerance by correcting dysbiosis. METHODS: A single-center prospective pilot study assessing the effect of Vivomixx® probiotic (450 billion/sachet) on clinical status, spirometry, lung clearance index (LCI), and quality of life (QOL) questionnaires; inflammatory parameters (urine and stool metabolomics, blood cytokines); and glucose metabolism (oral glucose tolerance test [OGTT]), continuous glucose monitoring [CGM], and homeostasis model assessment of IR (HOMA-IR) in CF patients. RESULTS: Twenty-three CF patients (six CFRD), mean age 17.7 ± 8.2 years. After 4 months of probiotic administration, urinary cysteine (p = 0.018), lactulose (p = 0.028), arabinose (p = 0.036), mannitol (p = 0.041), and indole 3-lactate (p = 0.046) significantly increased, while 3-methylhistidine (p = 0.046) and N-acetyl glutamine (p = 0.047) decreased. Stool 2-Hydroxyisobutyrate (p = 0.022) and 3-methyl-2-oxovalerate (p = 0.034) decreased. Principal component analysis, based on urine metabolites, found significant partitions between subjects at the end of treatment compared to baseline (p = 0.004). After 2 months of probiotics, the digestive symptoms domain of Cystic Fibrosis Questionnaire-Revised improved (p = 0.007). In the nondiabetic patients, a slight decrease in HOMA-IR, from 2.28 to 1.86, was observed. There was no significant change in spirometry results, LCI, blood cytokines and CGM. CONCLUSIONS: Changes in urine and stool metabolic profiles, following the administration of probiotics, may suggest a positive effect on glucose metabolism in CF. Larger long-term studies are needed to confirm our findings. Understanding the interplay between dysbiosis, inflammation, and glucose metabolism may help preventing CFRD.

Background: Pediatric gastrointestinal motility disorders present significant challenges for diagnosis and management, emphasizing the need for appropriate training in Pediatric Neurogastroenterology and Motility (PNGM). The aim of this survey, part of a comprehensive survey on training in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition, was to evaluate training related to PNGM across European training centers. Method: Standardized questionnaires were collected from training centers through the National Societies Network of the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN), from June 2016 to December 2019. Results: In total, 100 training centers from 19 countries participated in the survey. Dedicated PNGM clinics were available in 22 centers; pH-monitoring in 60; pH/impedance in 66; standard manometry in 37; and high-resolution manometry in 33. If all motility studies were performed partially or fully by the trainees, the median (range) annual numbers/per trainee were as follows: pH-monitoring 30 (1-500); pH/impedance 17 (1-131); standard manometries 10 (1-150); and high-resolution manometries 8 (1-75). The motility assessment was performed by pediatric gastroenterologists (43 centers); adult gastroenterologists (10 centers); pediatric surgeons (5 centers); and both pediatric gastroenterologists and pediatric surgeons (9 centers). Annual numbers ≤10 for pH-monitoring, pH/impedance, standard manometries and high-resolution manometries were reported by 7 (12%), 15 (23%), 11 (30%) and 14 (42%) centers, respectively. Conclusions: Significant differences exist in PNGM-related infrastructure, staff and procedural volumes at training centers across Europe. ESPGHAN and the National Societies should take initiatives to ensure the acquisition of competence in PNGM-related knowledge and skills, and develop strategies for assessment and accreditation.An infographic is available for this article at: http://www.annalsgastro.gr/files/journals/1/earlyview/2022/Infographic-AG6486.pdf.

Background: This survey evaluated the effects of the recognition of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition (PGHN) on European PGHN training centers. Method: Standardized questionnaires were collected from training centers via the presidents/representatives of the National Societies Network of the European Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, from June 2016 to December 2019. Results: A total of 100 training centers from 19 countries participated in the survey: 55 from 12 countries where PGHN is formally recognized (Group 1) and 45 from 7 countries where it is not (Group 2). Training centers in Group 2 were less likely to have an integrated endoscopy suite, a written training curriculum and a training lead (P=0.059, P<0.001 and P=0.012, respectively). Trainees in Group 2 were less likely to be exposed to an adequate number of diagnostic endoscopies, while no differences were found in relation to liver biopsies. Half of the training centers in both Groups do not have dedicated beds for PGHN patients, while in 64% and 58%, respectively, trainees do not participate in on-call programs for PGHN emergencies. Research training is mandatory in 26% of the centers. The duration of training, as well as the assessment and accreditation policies, vary between countries. Conclusions: This study has revealed significant discrepancies and gaps in infrastructure and training programs, training leadership, and assessment of training and certification across European training centers in PGHN. RESUMO

Tumor necrosis factor-α inhibitor-associated adverse cutaneous reactions are common in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. Infection-related dermatoses and psoriasiform eruptions are seen most frequently. We describe a follicular psoriasiform eruption that appeared during treatment with infliximab in two adolescents with Crohn's disease.

Background: The widely recognized burden of liver diseases makes training in pediatric hepatology (PH) imperative. The aim of this survey, which was part of a global survey on training in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition (PGHN) across Europe, was to assess the PH and liver transplantation (LT) infrastructure, staff and training programs in PGHN training centers. Method: Standardized questionnaires were collected from training centers via the presidents/representatives of the National Societies Network of the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) from June 2016 to December 2019. Results: A total of 100 PGHN training centers participated in the survey (14/100 were national referral centers in PH and/or LT). Dedicated PH clinics were available in 75%, but LT clinics in only 11%. Dedicated beds for PGHN inpatients were available in 47/95 (49%) centers. Full-time or part-time specialists for PH care were available in 31/45 (69%) and 11/36 (31%) centers, respectively. Liver biopsies (LB) were performed in 93% of centers by: a PGHN specialist (35%); an interventional radiologist (26%); a pediatric surgeon (4%); or a combination of them (35%). Dividing the annual number of LBs in the centers performing LBs by the number of trainees gave a median (range) of 10 (1-125) per trainee. Transient elastography was available in 60/92 (65%) of centers. Conclusions: The survey highlighted the differences and shortcomings in PH training across Europe. OBJECTIVES/BACKGROUND: Disease-related malnutrition is common in patients with chronic diseases and has detrimental effects, therefore, skills in nutrition care are essential core competencies for paediatric digestive medicine. The aim of this survey, conducted as part of a global survey of paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition (PGHN) training in Europe, was to assess nutrition care-related infrastructure, staff, and patient volumes in European PGHN training centres. METHODS: Standardized questionnaires related to clinical nutrition (CN) care were completed by representatives of European PGHN training centres between June 2016 and December 2019. RESULTS: One hundred training centres from 17 European countries, Turkey, and Israel participated in the survey. Dedicated CN clinics exist in 66% of the centres, with fulltime and part-time CN specialists in 66% and 42%, respectively. Home tube feeding (HTF) andhome parenteral nutrition (HPN) programmes are in place in 95% and 77% of centres, respectively. Twenty-four percent of centres do not have a dedicated dietitian and 55% do not have a dedicated pharmacist attached to the training centre. Even the largest centres with >5000 outpatients reported that 25% and 50%, respectively do not have a dedicated dietitian or pharmacist. Low patient numbers on HTF and HPN of <5 annually are reported by 13% and 43% of centres, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The survey shows clear differences and deficits in Clinical Nutrition training infrastructure, including staff and patient volumes, in European PGHN training centres, leading to large differences and limitations in training opportunities in Clinical Nutrition.

OBJECTIVES: Abdominal pain, emergency department visits, and hospitalizations impact lives of children with acute recurrent pancreatitis (ARP) and chronic pancreatitis (CP). Data on health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in this population, however, remains limited. We aimed to evaluate HRQOL in children with ARP or CP; and test biopsychosocial risk factors associated with low HRQOL. METHODS: Data were acquired from the INternational Study Group of Pediatric Pancreatitis: In search for a cuRE registry. Baseline demographic and clinical questionnaires, the Child Health Questionnaire (measures HRQOL) and Child Behavior Checklist (measures emotional and behavioral functioning) were completed at enrollment. RESULTS: The sample included 368 children (54.3% girls, mean age = 12.7years, standard deviation [SD] = 3.3); 65.2% had ARP and 34.8% with CP. Low physical HRQOL (M = 38.5, SD = 16.0) was demonstrated while psychosocial HRQOL (M = 49.5, SD = 10.2) was in the normative range. Multivariate regression analysis revealed that clinical levels of emotional and behavioral problems (B = -10.28, P  < 0.001), episodic and constant abdominal pain (B = 04.66, P = 0.03; B = -13.25, P < 0.001) were associated with low physical HRQOL, after accounting for ARP/CP status, age, sex, exocrine, and endocrine disease (F [9, 271] = 8.34, P < 0.001). Borderline and clinical levels of emotional and behavioral problems (B = -10.18, P < 0.001; B = -15.98, P < 0.001), and constant pain (B = -4.46, P < 0.001) were associated with low psychosocial HRQOL (F [9, 271] = 17.18, P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Findings highlight the importance of assessing HRQOL and treating pain and psychosocial problems in this vulnerable group of children.
